We had our final breakfast in Philadelphia at Silk City. Prior to arriving, I couldn't quite envision a diner-lounge hybrid, but somehow they have done it--and well. We were seated in the greenhouse area of the establishment and it was delightful. Turning your head even 10º from where you started reveals a new I Spy game. It's quite the spectacle. For my meal, I had the breakfast burrito. Our table also had the chicken and waffles, Caesar salad, yogurt bowl, and avocado toast. I was very pleased by my breakfast burrito. It was the perfect size and my sister happily stole the breakfast potatoes that I could not finish. Our server was very attentive and kept our drinks topped up and brought our food out quickly. Looking back, every staff member that we engaged with was friendly and pleasant. This was a great experience and I would be thrilled to return to Silk City upon future visits!

Silk city diner and lounge is a cute establishment located in Philadelphia. My friends and I went looking for a Sunday brunch and drove around endlessly to places that had long lines and long waits. We ended up at silk city and were seated within five minutes of arriving. It felt like we were eating inside of a warm greenhouse. Everything was decorated for the holidays and it was festive feeling. We knew that there was another group that would be coming after for a reservation, but we were not rushed and we treat it very well during our time. We were a group of 10 so we definitely appreciated the accommodation. The waitress came over and took our drink waters and we had an opportunity to look over the food menu. There were so many delicious sounding options to choose from. We ended up going with the brisket omelettes home fries pancakes. Some of us had the soup we all had cocktails (the adults did) and everything was superb. I would definitely go back if in the area and recommend it to anyone who was looking for fresh food, and good service.

Have been 3 times now. Saturday night: Loved the DJ. Can't believe we just partied in a diner. Sunday brunch: loved the food (shown here) and the outdoor area. Take out: holy sh*t. Got the kabayaki glazed salmon, the double patty silk burger, and buttermilk fried chicken. Loved the salmon and the sauce that went with it and the rice. The kids ate it up. The shrimp fried rice with it, delicious. Collard greens were a little sweet and I loved that. Wife loved the fried chicken. The silk burger was so good I couldn't even put it down. I love Silk City!!!!

Stopped by for the first time for brunch on a Saturday (11-3) I would advise reservations (we came spur of the moment so no reservations). We arrived about 10 minutes before they opened at 11 am..and there were quite a few parties already waiting. We were able to get a table sitting outside for our party of 4 immediately. It was the perfect day for outdoor dining (even though it is covered) It got full VERY fast! Our server Jayson was great! The food came out super quick, correctly, and delicious. Our bill was $100 for 4 people (a 20% gratuity is added on) but worth it. Will be back soon!

Came here for brunch on Saturday and we ordered the eggs Benedict and the breakfast sandwich, each around $15~which isn't bad at all for the portion size. Both were delicious and would definitely order again! This is my second time here and both times the food was great and the garden area is super cute to dine in! Service was a bit slow and took a while to get our drinks but the food came out super fast! I ordered a black coffee and a classic espresso martini (had to switch it out for a Bloody Mary because it was too sweet for my taste) and the server was super understanding. Overall, a pretty decent experience!

Funny the reviews are so mixed here. Went to a show and then hit up the diner side for some food. Of the things we ordered almost all of them were very good...bread pudding, Korean cauliflower, fries, pierogis. My friend said the wings were just okay. My bread pudding with salted caramel ice cream was a great salty sweet combination, I would definitely order that again. I sampled a piece of the Korean cauliflower, the sauce was tasty and the breading was crunchy. I did not try the pierogis but my other friend said she enjoyed them.

Had a great time this past weekend at Silk City. I was seated on their covered outdoor patio which was nice and toasty considering it was like 40degrees. Started with some beers but their cocktails look amazing. The atmosphere is really eclectic and fun. The waiter was friendly and answered all our questions. As vegetarians, we ordered the brussel sprouts, thai seitan wings, and the impossible burger. I am still thinking about everything a few days later. I can't decide what my favorite was but the seitan wings were so good. I will definitely be back to get them again. After our meal we popped over to the club side for a show. We had bought tickets in advance and they just checked our name. The stage is really small but it was still a good time. I brought my earplugs and felt okay with my ears. On the club side it was a $15 minimum so we ended up having to skip drinks. Overall, great place and I will definitely be back!

I've never been to silk city for brunch until today! Usually, I go there for their nighttime party atmosphere (in my youth, of course). We sat in their outside garden area (which was enclosed since it was the winter months). We had about 8 people and had reservations. Unfortunately, they wouldn't seat us until our whole party came. The decoration in the inside was interesting. There were Christmas decorations, lighted palm trees, autumn leaves lining the place, and Christmas lights in the middle of January. The server was super friendly and helpful. Ended up getting a coffee (it is la colombe), which was refilled pretty quickly when finished. I also got the shorty omelette which was a short rib omelette that came with home fries. Never had short ribs in an omelette before. I felt like it would have been better in the middle of the omelette but it was instead part of the omelette which I didn't expect. There was a ton of onions in the omelette as well. The home fries were crispy but I wish there were more peppers and onions with it (some of my friend's home-fry dishes had a ton of pepper and onions). My one friend got a Diet Coke with refill and they charged for the refill as well (just an FYI if you decide to get a soft drink at this place).

I've been here a few times (have only sat in the outdoor seating though) and go back and forth on my feelings but my general consensus is that I like it. The food is always good, the portions are sizable, and I feel like the prices are fairly reasonable for the style of restaurant this is. The outdoor seating is pretty spacious but I've had some odd experiences like the one time I went this summer there was near constant mist on my friend and I and it felt a little like a tropical rainforest. However, it's decorated well and has lots of plants and lights around. Service is reliable and fairly fast. Would strongly encourage getting their mac and cheese for the table (it's a major favorite of mine). I've never been disappointed by the burgers either. The last time I went we tried the bread pudding and I was surprised by how good it was. Would recommend! Overall, this is a great spot for crowd-pleasing casual dining (especially with people from out of town). They except reservations online too. The inside is unique and I believe it turns into more of a bar scene on the weekends!

Silk City is always pretty cute. Basic food, good crowd, friendly people. Servers are responsive and the outside deck is well insulated with heat lamps. The drink Purple Rain was pretty weak. Just get the liquor straight up (I did next round). I had the burger and fries. It was just ok. Nothing to write home about. Fries tasty and room temp but still crispy. My wife had the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Good use of cheese, buttery bread and well toasted, and it was just ok. I think that's the thing about Silk City- you get solid food and options but in the end it is just ok. We headed to the event space connected afterwards so the meal was sufficient for a night of drinking and dancing.
